Frequently asked questions
Are children required to be toilet trained?
No. Children do not need to be toilet trained. We do ask that children wear pull-ups and bring extra clothing for accidents, if they should occur. When ready, we will help families through the process of toilet training. Children are brought to the bathroom whenever they ask and are reminded frequently throughout the day. Teachers monitor and help children with toileting needs and proper handwashing.
Do you provide food and drinks?
Parents are required to supply all food and drinks. We do have emergency snacks if a child is without one. Children are allowed to sip on their water whenever they are thirsty.
Do you celebrate holidays?
Throughout the year, we will have special holiday parties. In October, we have a Halloween party where children wear their costumes. Children help decorate our holiday tree in December, and we have a Valentine’s party in February and a special St. Patrick's Day celebration in March. All families are encouraged to share their cultures and ways of celebrating with the class.
Is Green Meadows Affiliated with Tewksbury Congregational Church?
No. We are not affiliated with TCC.
Does Green Meadows offer off site field trips?
No. However, several times throughout the year, we have on-site field trips, such as a special visit from the Tewksbury Fire Department, where children learn fire safety; a visit from the Tewksbury Police and Officer Waffles, helping children learn about service dogs; and Pumpernickel Puppets, who entertain the children with a wonderful puppet show.
How does morning drop-off and dismissal work?
Parents and caregivers will walk their children to their classroom, where their teacher will greet them. The front doors open at 9:25 and will remain open until all children are present, after which they will be locked. The doors remained locked until morning dismissal and again until afternoon dismissal. Children are dismissed from their classroom by their teacher. Children are dismissed from their classroom by their teacher only to those listed on the transportation or emergency contact list.
What are the teacher to child ratios?
EEC requires preschool classrooms to maintain a maximum staff-to-child ratio of 1:10. Our largest classroom holds only 15 children. However, Green Meadows will always provide two teachers in each classroom, even if there are fewer than 10 children. We feel passionately that this supports your child's learning environment and academic success.
Are parents allowed access during school hours?
Parents and caregivers are allowed access during school hours. There is a doorbell at the front door you can ring, and you will be met at the door. With advance planning, Parents are welcome to read a story, share a hobby, or help create a project with their child's class. We will also ask for parent helpers during holiday parties.
